Crankshaft and gears nestle in lower case half. We need gaskets and oil seals, a kick-start spring and shaft end bush before this engine goes back together
All selector forks are in good condition with no signs of wear on the running faces, a sure sign that the gearbox mainshaft bearing is badly worn
That's why it didn't work! Anthony Cope holds his Nippon Denso starter and looks for the missing drive shaft. The hole was filled with Araldite to keep oil in the engine >
Stripping reveals shredded starter motor windings and broken bushes. It wouldn't have worked even if there was a battery and an armature. We need another one
