Terry Prince's 1963 RPO Z-11 Impala

TERRYPRINCE was a very successful drag racer out of Southern California, winning the Winternationals in B/S in 1962, runner-up in this Z-11 in 1963, and attaining the #5 spot on the DRAG NEWS National Match Race Circuit.

The Z-lls were the fastest production car in 1963, winning the '63 Winter-nationals and the '63 Indy Nationals (AFX). The Z-11 engine is a 427 ci stroked 409, with high port heads, 2-pc high rise intake manifold, with 2 4-bbl carbs, 13.5 to one forged pistons, forged crankshaft and rods. This 500 hp motor was used only in the 50 Z-11 cars in 1963. Other specialized equipment was a factory-installed cowl induction air cleaner, Chevy's first. Z06 metallic brakes with vented backing plates, 31-spline axles and h.d. spider gears, no sound deadener, radio and heater delete, and factory tach.
