Coolest Street Rod

1932 Ford Roadster

George and Doris Perry, Shrewsbury, VT

Most people alive today haven't seen a Frenzel supercharger or Elco Twin dual-plus heads, and if they have, they haven't seen them installed on a running, driving flathead-powered hot rod. George's Deuce roadster exhibits that exact combination.

Publisher's Choice

1969 Pontiac GTO Joe James, Burnt Hills, NY

A former Hemmings Muscle Machines cover car, this GTO remains in the hands of its original owner, who used it for everything a car could be used for when it was new.

Stacey Roese Island Pond Vermont

Favorite Truck

1959 Chevrolet Carryall NAPCO Stacey Roese, Island Pond, VT

Stacey found this original NAPCO-converted Chevrolet Carryall in the woods of Michigan, where for 30 years it was used once a year to carry a group of hunters up to their lodge. He and his wife made the four-hour trip to Bennington in the freshly restored Carryall.

Favorite Mopar

1957 Dodge Regent

Clayton and Mary Heath, Wilmot, NH

The Regent's nickname, Plodge, is a combination of the Plymouth and Dodge badges, in the same manner in which this Canadian-built Mopar came together when new. Clayton and Mary made the 110-mile trip to Bennington in this mostly original and rarely seen Mopar, which they purchased three years ago.

Best Paint

1965 Cadillac DeVille Joe Giolito, Manchester, VT

Anybody who stopped to look at Joe's Cadillac probably had a hard time getting past the incredible mirror-like finish applied to the acres of GM sheetmetal. Hard to believe that the paint exhibited here was sprayed on nearly a decade ago. Proof positive that a little care goes a long way.

Favorite GM

1972 Buick Skylark

Pam and Duane Dodds, Schenectady, NY

The Cortez Gold convertible has been well taken care of its entire life, and it has returned the favor to its owners. "We do a lot of club events," Duane said, "and it's our go-to car when they're distant from home because it's so reliable." Originally a Southern car, it's equipped with air-conditioning, too. Pam and Duane are Editor's Choice the third owners.

1970 Olds 4-4-2 W30 Kim Thayer, Readsboro, VT If there was ever an underrated muscle car, the Olds 4-4-2 could easily qualify. Kim's example, however, is equipped with the W30 package, which shoveled cold air directly into the carburetor, helping increase the 455-cu.in. engine's official horsepower rating to 370.

Favorite Ford

1949 Ford

Joe Bogovich, Berlin, NY

It's impossible to overstate the importance of the '49 Ford to post-war Detroit, or Joe's attachment to his very fine example.

Favorite Muscle Car

1965 Olds 4-4-2

John McAuley, Erving, MA

How's this for convenient? John found the black 4-4-2 in the garage of the house next door. "I just had to push it 10 feet and it was on my property," he said. There's no pushing these days— the 45,000-mile coupe is a reliable driver, and a good performer, too. "I'll take it anywhere," John said. "And I don't even have a cell phone."

Favorite Independent

1960 Metropolitan Bill Clark, Endicott, NY

Bill has two Metropolitans; both were featured on the cover and were documented in our February '09 Hemmings Classic Car. Bill decided to bring the 1960 convertible on this night and left his 1957 hardtop in similar paint scheme at home.
